Samsung Smart Lock to keep Cell Phone Unlocked

I have been using this very useful feature for a few months now and and I have found this feature helpful.

To find Smart Lock Go to:
Settings Lock ScreenSmart Lock.

Smart Lock will keep your cell phone unlocked when the cell phone in is a trusted location or it detects a trusted device nearby.

When you go into Smart Lock you will be asked to enter your Pin Number for the cell phone if you have one.

The Trusted Location can be your home, or a place you choose that you think is safe for your cell phone to be unlocked all the time while you are there.
And this means that while you are at home your cell phone won’t lock. I would imagine that if someone grabbed your cell phone and run off your property thinking that it was always unlocked would get a surprise when the phone locked itself because it was no longer on the Trusted Property.

Smart Lock can also keep your cell phone unlocked while you have the cell phone on you.
Its called On-body Detection.
But one needs to note that On-Body Detection can’t distinguish between different people, meaning it can’t tell if it is you or someone else using your cell phone, and this is why I don’t use On-Body Detection.

Trusted Devices.
Here you can add Trusted Devices that when you are near them the cell phone will stay unlocked. The cell phone will connect to the device, say by Bluetooth and then unlock the cell phone automatically.

I find this especially helpful when on Security Patrol and I am wearing my Samsung Galaxy Watch. As long as the watch is turned on and I am wearing it the cell phone stays unlocked. So when I need to use the Covid Tracer App at each location I arrive at to patrol I don’t need to enter my pin number each time I access the phone. I find this very helpful.

Also because I have entered the Security Car as a Trusted Device everytime my cell phone connects with Bluetooth to the car multimedia my cell phone is unlocked.
So while I am in the car and the car is turned on the phone is automatically unlocked.

If my cell phone was dropped by me and lost, or stolen, once it was away from these trusted devices the cell phone would then automatically lock once again.

I have found the Smart Lock feature very useful.

All the best from
