Breaking the chains of guilt, and stop letting people rule over our lives, even, and especially, family.

I was reading on one of my therapy books about a man who was still mentally haunted by a parent long after the parent had died. This parent had an emotional control that even the grave cannot break.
If you feel that a parent is emotionally abusing you then now while that parent is alive is the time to deal with this mother or father, or both.
In the true story I read the elderly man (a millionaire) lived in poverty, drove a old car etc.

All his life (while the father was alive) his father had drummed it into the sons mind to not trust people or life.
When the son would spend money on himself the father would tell the boy off harshly for his (so-called) selfish spending.

The result was an intelligent hard working clever businessman who had great guilt over spending money on himself. He spent money on his 2 daughter’s, but not himself.
He worked hard on this in therapy and really improved his life.

The point I want you to think about is about letting other people rule your life for you. You must break the chains of habit, fears and weaknesses and take back your life now while your abusers are still alive.
This rich old mans father was probably not intending to do harm, he probably thought that he was helping his son.

Breaking the chains that tie us to guilt, and other emotional issues will give us freedom to live again and then we can make choices in our lives that we want to make and not feel bad about trying to make our own life better.
The rich old man said as his life got better and with tears in his eyes, “… there is simply nothing in my current reality to justify my being afraid as I was”
Break those chains. Be brave and learn to live as you have never lived before. Freedom is a wonderful thing to have, and is yours for the taking.
