But who is to blame? Who did Jesus blame for leading the people astray? He blamed the church.
A house divided will fall. What do we see around us? Many doctrines, many religions, many churches, many denominations, all divided, all calling, “Jesus, Jesus”, and all claiming to be the truth and the light.
It is very clear that the church is divided, and it is clear that the church is at fault because “the message” is not making a difference.
Our goal is not to complain, but to show the people the blessings of following the teachings of Christ. This will benefit the people from now into eternity.
Look back to the past and you will find the answers. Church people were separated from society by being less sinful, but not separated by being freaks that scare the public away.
Today many religious people are seen as nuts. And one reason for that is that many act like they are nuts. Many are hypocritical, judgmental, bullies, demand money (for Good of course they say), they support war and guns, have a favorite political leader etc. But what about the lost and needy?
During the 1800’s missionaries risked their own lives going and living with cannibals, head hunters, etc and they changed their lives and hearts only armed with love and the Bible. They didn’t have weapons because they had true faith in God.
Look around you. Many of the Christians proudly call themselves sinners and they act like it too. This turns the public away from them because the public want to escape the slavery of sins and addiction. We are supposed to be morally different, no lotto, not idolizing sports, not putting government before God, but instead most religious people follow society like the unsaved do.
If we Christians want change, we first got to start with ourselves and stop blaming the world for our failures, sins, and weakness. We are falling to reach and teach them. We are to be good examples, not be like them. We are supposed to be a light in a dark world, but instead many religious are nothing but a dim hope.
We fail because we lead with doctrines written by people to divide the church, the church does not lead with love. Especially not the love that will risk our lives, or our money, or our worldly goods. Christians cling to materialism just as the lost do.
Have we all become fakers, calling the name of Jesus but making no real difference at all?
I think so. I think we need a reformation that will take us back to the teachings of Jesus. We need to get back to our Christian roots, back to the basics of the faith.
We need to stop claiming that Jesus is coming (people have been claiming that “Jesus will be here soon” for the last 2000 years. Let’s get real. When Christ arrives that will be then. But for now let’s be worthy leaders of the faith that will bring the people back to decency and good moral living. Let’s make a difference by being doers of the Word.
All the best from James Martin Sandbrook.
