A time when we are spiritually dry.

When we are unproductive to ourself and to the Good Lord.
This is a time when our life seems rocky and barren.
Nothing is happening, we may be going over the same old mental ground, just wearing it down, killing any growth, day by day just wasting away.
We are walking in our own wastless wilderness.
Nothing seems to hold any hope.
Nothing seems to work and its fruitless just doing the same thing over and over again – to get change we must do something that will change our situation.

While we are in this unproductive mental state nothing will happen in our life, we will just plod onwards, day by day.
Our life seems to defeat itself if there is no growth, no fruit is grown from what we do, we just exist.

John Chapter 15, verse 16:
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my
name, he may give it you.
○
Our life is a waste if we don’t bring forth fruit. A fruitful tree is alive, a dead tree brings forth no fruit, now that is worth thinking about.
Like the tree with good water to drink, and nourishment, it brings forth lots of healthy fruit and so it should be with us in our own lives.
We, in all things that we do should bring forth fruit from our efforts. And this is not only in God’s work, it should be so in all things that we do.

How we live makes a large difference to how our life will be.

Jeremiah Chapter 5, verse 23-25:
But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.
Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.
Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.

Read the above verse a few times to get a good feeling if it.
○
Isaiah Chapter 59, verse 2:
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Our life is an example of our thoughts. We can say all we like about following God, but if that is not in our thoughts or in our actions, or with love in our hearts then we are not following God.
We cannot serve two masters. If we follow God we should do so with all our heart and soul.

If we willingly sin and make excuses for it or tell other people that they can sin then we are clearly going against what God wants of us.
We cannot expect God to walk side by side with the person who chooses to sin to satisfy their lusts or hurt others.
Remember that God’s way is of love, deliberate sin is of evil.

Imagine telling God that you are about to spend five weeks in the mission field helping people, feeding the starving, clothing people, blessing lives, what do you think the feeling that God is going to have for you and your work?
 Will there be fruit from your work?
Yes, and God will be with you at your side and happily.

I am saying that you can choose between having a life of rocky and barren times or a fruitful life.
The choice is in who you want to be, your love, sympathy, and your care for other people.
Being disillusioned and hard hearted brings no good.

We must get ourselves out of the dry ground because dry rocky ground bears no fruit. It is unworkable.
No fruit can come from such a dead life.
A selfish life pulls things toward it and soaks everything up greedily until there is nothing left, and eventually it is dried up and dies in its wastefulness.

Jeremiah Chapter 18, verse 6 :
…cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand…
○
Let God take your life and reshape it and let God’s loving work fruit back into your life.
God is our only salvation.
God is the gift of life to the spiritual dying.
God is the spring of life.
○
Psalms 68, verse 5:
A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.
○
God sets us free – the rebellious stay on dry ground.
○
Galatians Chapter 5, verse 22-23:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
