It is Okay to Walk Away from What is Not Working Out for You

It has been said that the definition of insanity is repeating the same behavior over and over, while expecting a different result with each repetition.

If that’s what’s going on, with you, then the temporary shame or guilt you might experience because you quit would be far outweighed by the tremendous remorse you would feel if you kept doing something that just didn’t work.

Quitting is a tactical maneuver which allows you to apply your energy to something more productive. It is highly under rated.

Use it early and often.

Quitting is often seen as a negative and defeatist move.

But, on the contrary, to decide to quit is very often a courageous and mature move. You are taking ownership of your life and your decisions, and to dispose of something which isn’t right or isn’t making you happy is almost always the best course of action.
There is no shame in realising something isn’t right for you.
There is no shame in deciding that prolonging pain is the wrong course of action.
There is no shame in changing direction.

If you find yourself in a situation that is not working out for you, but people want you to do it, then please go with what you want.

Otherwise the crowd will own you and what you do, and years of unneeded suffering are before you.
Wisdom is walking away from anything you realize is not good for you. The others don’t see and know what you see and know, they won’t have to live with the results of your choices, especially forced choices due to peer pressure.
Look after yourself, because you need your own wisdom and protection.

All the best from
James Martin Sandbrook.
