Bad Moods Mess with the Mind.

There was a man who was blind, and when he was 16 he led a resistance group in Nazi occupied France during the Second World War (true story). His name was Jaques Lusseyran.

He told an interesting story about dinnertime.
He would set out his salt, pepper and glass of water, food etc when he ate, they were all put carefully in the same place on the table so that he knew where everything was. In a good mood he remembered where everything was and there were no accidents.
*
But when he became angry, frustrated, depressed etc, he would start knocking things over. His mood defeated him and confused his mind. He couldn’t think clearly while upset and made mistake after mistake, and that made him even more angry.

From this we can learn to stop losing our temper, because it does us no good. Carelessly losing our own temper would be defeating ourself and our own life. We can’t think clearly, we can’t act responsible, and we say things that we shouldn’t and do things that in a better mood we wouldn’t have done. The results are that we are unhappy and those that had to deal with us are unhappy. We can lose friends, and people prefer not to know us.

If we become self conscious of losing our temper, gaining control again of our emotions and anger, we can react to life in a more mature way, and as we all know, a positive reaction is far more productive and useful than a loss of control.

But he learned with time to stop losing his temper immediately because he told himself that he was going to be the biggest loser from his bad mood. He would be defeating himself and his own life.
