To understand life we must be active in every sense, and we need to be continuously tested in order to gain a wide variety of skills to help us out of bad situations and to help us deal with new situations.

If we are moddle-coddled (have everything done for us) we gain very little knowledge of life and we have very few coping mechanisms.

Consider the mechanic. He or she must at first read, then practice what he or she has read, and this is all done in real time on an actual mechanical object. The failures are recorded in the mind and the successes recorded int he mind, so that when the work is done in the future the apprentice will know what works and will do that.

In life, as a child, if people do everything for us and we are taken from place to place by other people, our mind has little knowledge of how to cope. I have seen this where the mother will pick out a favorite child and that child will be taken everywhere by the mother, and as that child grows older the mother always makes the risky choices for the child, and as an adult the child is incapable of living life without the mothers choices.
