Muscles & Fitness

One of the reasons why men when they get to their 50’s start to wither and slump, is that before they got to this age they spent lots of time being casual, watching TV, watching movies, partying, and so on.

The human body was designed to be out in nature.
Being out in nature is where we were born to be, and our human body, like the other animals bodies are designed to live in, and I mean this in the sense that our greatest health benefits and a long life, is as the natural human body was designed to be, not as society today tells us to be.

Society, commerce, industry, politics and so on, they don’t care about your ongoing health unless you are spending your money on their products to get more healthy.

As they say, “If you don’t use it you lose it”.

This means that at no time in your life should you stop being active.

Keep using your entire body as much s you can. If someone asks for help, help them.
If ever I see someone pushing a car I ask if they need help, if they sy yes then I am pushing as well.

One of the reasons why people go to the gym is because in all other parts of their life they are relaxing, or not being what should be normally physical, and that is often because they are in an office all day, or in a classroom a lot of the day. Believe me, it is perfectly natural to want to be outside and not cooped up in a classroom. Being in a classroom is not natural, but being outside and being physical is.

If is an accepted fact that if we don’t use our muscles we lose our muscles and then as an old man we become bent-over, slow, and we look old.

My answer to avoid this is to be active as often as you can with sports, but also active in taking the long way, walking a lot, cycling, and yes also going to the gym, but also instead of paying other people to do heavy work for you, do it yourself.

Also avoid machinery if you can and do the work in the more physical work as it was done in the past, because in the past they did work that way because it was good for muscle, body and bones, and also good for the soul.

I have many examples of myself in the past doing more than I needed to do, but it was good for soul and body.

When my children lived with me and I homeschooled them, we would walk a long way to the shop. We could have walked the easy way to the closest shop (Tainui Dairy) but instead we would walk to Tainui Dairy and then on to Balmoral 4 Square shop and back home. We would do this for fun.

When I was Fasting for body cleansing and giving up cigarette smoking I would walk 11km or more daily, sometimes twice a day in my early 40’s. Also I bought a set of weights and would workout before I went cycling and then after the cycling, then do some martial arts, bag work and so on.
Often I would cycle up to 4 times a day, often cycling 11km or more, and then walk the last half a km home.

When you have never used weights, or not used them in a while, it pays to remind yourself that you should start off on small weights building the muscle up and then moving on to bigger weights when you feel you should. Listen to your body.

It will take weeks, but you will find that as long as you look after your body, eat well, that the exercise will become more enjoyable and easy.

Its always fun to push yourself harder from time to time.

Mentally Talk Yourself to Keep Active.

Demand that you should keep being active. If everyone around you spends all afternoon watching TV, be that guy that doesn’t, and don’t care what people say, and don’t worry about what’s on TV, you will be able to get it online or on DVD anyway.

Remind yourself often that you “need” to exercise and often.

If there is a shortcut and you are not in a hurry then don’t take the shortcut, go the long way. Find someone to walk with you, run with you, even exercise with you.

Try to eat healthy food, less processed food.

Being Active and Healthy is about Your Long Term Health and Fitness. The more active and healthy you are when younger the more active and healthier you will be when you are older.
