Probably nothing frustrates the public more than religious people telling people what to do and then they do not do it themselves.
Especially when the religious say that a non-religious person has a low character by doing something like being dishonest, but people find out that the religious person is themselves at times when it suits the religious person, he or she is dishonest as well.
Talk is cheap as they say. You can point to me and happily point out my faults, but at the same time have the same faults but not realise it or you just want a reason to make me look inferior in front of other people’s minds.
Because we are creatures of habit, habits can rule us, as if they were another character blended with our own character – we may do things that we don’t intend to do but we do them because for 30 years we have done them. People are very quick to point out our mistakes and many are very keen and eager to see us shamed publicly.
As you can imagine, walking the walk that we talk and judge others by is very very hard. Not an easy task or path to go on, and many mistakes are often made by us.
There are many times in the past when I have been totally convinced that I have given up a bad habit or changed and then I get it totally wrong and do the wrong thing, especially losing my temper at certain people.
A lot of people raise themselves above others and tend to feel that they are in a high enough position to look at others and talk of their weaknesses. Its easy, because it is just talk. God, would want you to see you own faults, then be honest enough to correct your own faults, but also God may want you to take heed when people point out something that he or she feels is a fault, and it is up to you to consider if this is in fact a fault that needs correcting by you or not.
As they say, it is the fool who hears correction and refuses to do anything about it.
It is also very hard to like someone who you try to help and that person comes to a stage where he or she just keeps dipping back tot he past to do foolish things, and that makes us very heart broken because that person is not walking the walk we know that they should walk. If they do foolish things we don’t want to see them get hurt, especially a spouse or our own children, walking the right path should be everyone’s goal, but sometimes we tire of the struggles and stop self correcting and change and just wallow for a few years in a place we should not be in.
Walking the Walk is taking action to prove that we back up and believe what we talk to other people, such as we are in-tune with what we often say. It shows authenticity, consistency, and taking steps to back up the promises we make or beliefs we have and have shared with others, maybe in an effort for them to be a better person, thus we need to show an example ourselves.
If we overcome each obstacle, then that issue is gone forever, then we overcome the next, and along the way we can encourage others to do the same, but also admitting that we are ourselves not perfect, but always trying just the same, as we hope that they will themselves.
