The Man of Conscience and Value is Slow to Anger.
Being slow to anger is being slow to get angry, thus it means that a person can make a more shallow easily insecure person angry easily, but not you.
Being of Depth means that you are a thinker, a person of Thought, a Well Read person, who thinks about people, life, good and bad, and what makes a good character, and also tries to understand people, who they are, what they are on about, and how they feel, react, deal with life, especially if they are dealing with life differently than you do.
You may note that a person is more shallow a thinker than you, but to hold that against them or to judge them by their way of life does no good, so you set a good non-judgemental example and just do your best to be the best that you can be.
The other person, people, society, the world, can upset you, and there are things that you dislike, people who you dislike, but your reaction is slow, because if your reaction is slow then this is because you are taking your time to try to understand the situation and what is really going on that is more hidden than the obvious that is going on on the surface.
During your life you have made mistakes and accused people wrong, and then discovered that in your rash accusations you were wrong, hurt people’s feelings, caused tears, sadness, and broke a few hearts, so now you take your time before lashing out in anger.
You now feel that a more mature approach is needed when people get up[set at you or a situation, and you try to look deeper to see if there is anything that you can do to help or that your example of being understanding and slow to anger is an example that helps the other person see that you are not lashing out that even though stressed and upset you are not seeking revenge or an eye for an eye, but you are instead waiting, observing, noting and learning about the other persons character and reasons for being upset.
Getting angry quickly is what all people do, but the person who controls himself or herself, not that is a strong person of good worthy character, and helps to keep the situation stable but not accelerating the situation to becoming violent or explosive.
People who deliberately learn about the human character, the human past history, of mental health, of human reactions, know that there are many reasons why people make us angry, the best thing to do is to not react in anger as best as we can. Note here though, you will never be perfect, and once in a while you may react in anger fast, but the wise person who really cares tries to remove himself from such a situation as fast as possible to regather his thoughts and what happened.
The more time we take to think, learn, investigate, the more chance we have of turning an angry situation into a peaceful result, hopefully where everyone is happy.
I remember a situation about a checkout girl and an angry customer. A man was in line to be served walked over to the angry man who was yelling at the scared and startled checkout girl and he put his arm around the angry man and said that the girl was only a worker and didn’t make the rules, and got far to little pay to be yelled at by upset customers. He asked the man about his day, and said that it must have been a hard day if he had got so upset like that, and he asked him to come back when he was feeling better.
And the angry man, not upset anymore and ashamed of his behaviour apologised to the checkout girl and left the store. As you can see this situation could have become much worse, but an understanding and kind reaction caused a peaceful outcome.
Hollywood violent movies, violent TV shows, teach us that anger and lashing out is what the tough man does, but in reality this is foolishness and causes far more trouble than its worth.
Being slow to anger is being more considerate and understanding to people who have upset us, and gives us time to think things over while also decelerates the situation. The wise person tries his or her best to be slow to anger.
