When Tokoroa rally driver Tony Teesdale and co-driver Garry Smith leave Tokoroa on the third-leg of the National Rally Championship tomorrow they will leave with the best wishes of Tokoroa businessmen.
Bridge Street retailers have banded together to sponsor Teesdale and Smith as part of a promotion by the Bridge Street Businessman’s Association.
Bridge Street promotions spokesman, Mr Merv Brown explained he and his fellow retailers wanted to support the efforts of a fine rally team which was earning great publicity for the town and its sports people.
Smith and Teesdale are currently lying in six equal place in the championship after two of the four rounds have been run and are hoping for a good performance in the weekend’s third round which will start from Auckland on saturday and finish at Tokoroa on Sunday after spending a lot of time on the South Waikato roads.
