Giant Panda (Ailuropoda Melanoleuca)



During the ancient past the Giant Panda roamed all of China, sadly these days they habitate only a small section of southwestern China.
 
The Giant panda is a vegetarian and eats almost exclusively on the stems and leaves of bamboo, eating for up to 14 hours a day.
People are worried that the Giant Panda population might be extinct by the year 2000.
People poach the Giant panda for it's beautiful coat.
 
The Giant Panda is a bear.
 
The Giant Panda can Weigh about 165-353 pounds.
The Giant Panda has poor vision and they have slits like nocturnal animals have in their eyes.
The Giant Panda has a very good sense of smell and a very thick and wooly coat which is oily to prevent water (Rain) getting through.
Their body Length is 4-5 feet, the male Panda is larger and weighs more than the female Panda.
 
The Giant Panda is a wonderful animal to look at, it is no wonder that Panda bear toys sell so well. We hope the whole world will help save the Giant Panda from becoming extinct.
