John Walker - Olympic gold medallist



Olympic gold medallist in the 1500 metres at Montreal, in 1976.
John Walker was the first person to run a mile in under 3 minutes 50 seconds (3 min 49.4 sec in 1975).
 
John was the Winner of three Commonwealth Games medals.
 
He was first to run more than 100 sub four minute miles.
 
Joint winner, with Sir Richard Hadlee, of the New Zealander Sportsperson of the last 25 years in 1987.
