Because people cannot see God, and in carnal materialistic times they cannot Spiritually Connect with God, they seek a form of connection and they cling to it like a baby clinging to a lollipop.
It has been pointed out many times that the New Testament or the writings about Jesus and his ministry were written about well after Jesus left the scene, some say 30 years later, some say 50 years later, and that all of what was written was second hand by people who didn’t even know Jesus.
If we were to add that system of second-hand gossip to the rest of the Bible each time a Prophet appeared and was written about 50 years later, this does make the Bible very inaccurate and written by people who didn’t know the Prophet, written as someone writing about the Prophet and not the Prophet writing, or written by a religious group with an agenda
If that be the case then a lot of the Bible is true, and some of it is not.
The test is simple. Does any religion in existence when Jesus was walking the planet chang the world, and the obvious answer is no.
Now apply that question today, are any religions today effective in the fight with Evil or do they contribute to the Evil, and the answer is that they are all ineffective.
The reason why the Prophet appears is because the people have lost contact with God in every sense and in every way, and they have no way of getting back to God and normal living without that Prophet.
The Bible clearly is Spiritual, important, needed, but it, on its own, has not saved the world nor has its contents made people wise, instead the people who claim to follow God misinterpret much of the Bible, adjust the Bible to suit their views, argue with each other over the contents, meanings, and the verses, which means that Satan has very successfully divided the religious into squabbling immature adult children who cannot be used by God.
The Bible is obviously not the very word of God due to its many inconsistencies. Die hard believers refuse to see the faults the parts that make no sense and so on, but just because they are fanatically narrow-minded does not mean that what they want to believe is reality.
The Bible is a book, God is not a book. In the Bible are many many worthwhile examples, stories, beliefs, teachings, ideas, and so on to help us in our own lives. God is not a book, not the Bible. God is Spirit, God is Love, God is Good.
The book called the Bible is a tool. You can get much guidance from it, get much help from it, and learn much from it, but your connection with God is not in the Bible, it is in your relationship and walk with God.
Do keep many Bibles in your house as I do, and read it as much as you please. Many people say a prayer, and this has worked for me many times, and then open the Bible anywhere and lo and behold the answer to your prayer can be there, this does not always happen, because maybe God wants you to figure out your prayer/question yourself, or if you ask God to do something God really wants you to do it because it is good for your personal growth in life.
The Bible is a tool. Treat the Bible as such.
Think os a group holding a control over a people via a book or writings and then adjusting the book to suit their desires. Much of the book is genuine, based on good, but when war is wanted, or other ungodly desires of the human race then it is written into that writing along with a case of claiming that the Prophets did marvelous miracles or caused and fought in wars and so on.
Think of the Bible as a Spiritual Book that has been in the hands of a people with an agenda and they have bent the meanings and words, and changed the scripture to make their agenda feel as if it were true.
Another point is most books could be quoted as verses and bent towards looking like they support an agenda/cult. Sentences, words, meanings are taken out of context and so on.
As far as i have always known God as I do, I know that God is not about hate nor violence, unless the violence is absolutely needed, and this is why I don’t believe that many of the so called men of God were warriors after they found God, meaning that before they found God they may have killed people but not afterwards.
But a church or government who wanted war for power, to take over others, and so forth, can write in to religious laws that god supports war, that God told David to kill and so on.
Years ago I discovered a book that stated that Leonardo de Vinci was homosexual, and that was a bit of a shock because he was also a believe in God, but a thought hit me that for some unknown reason does not come to the history teacher or history believer, and that is, that if you hated a person a year, 10 years, a century after that person had died you could rewrite that persons personal history, books, accounts, and diaries to make it look like a good person was an evil person or a big sinner, thus Character Assassination to make someone who you were jealous of or hated, or your family hated. Look bad to the rest of the world long after that person was dead.
This I basically what happened to the real Jesus, long after he died they made him into a god, gave him superpowers and so on, and created a religious cult around this. Long after Jesus was unable to defend himself they went on to create a huge myth about him. It was allowed to continue because there were and still are many religious people whoa re good people, sadly today less people whoa re religious know God in any true or real sense.
This Bible belief of today that it is the only word of God is a belief that keeps people mentally trapped in to a belief system that keeps them obeying ungodly beliefs, actions, and a lifestyle that God doe snot support.
