How We View Others

You may have noticed on the Internet how wealthy people cannot understand how middle-class people live, nor can middle-class understand how poor people live.

We tend to mentally sit in a chair and once we are comfortable in that particular chair we see life from that chair as we live it.

This is probbably why many wealthy and midde-class people don’t empathize with the poor, they don’t feel it. many live in warm places, then when winter coems int hey move to another warm place, and then back home to the original location hen Spring returns.

If you speak to this person about cold weather they have no idea, but they think that they have an idea about what it is like to live in the cold, they just have not experienced it for their entire life or for long periods of time.

I was on Welfare with children, a woman in the room was on welfare with children, and a male, her boyfriend was on welfare but he worked illegally for his parents while collecting welfare, had two Visa cards which his business orientated parents paid off for him, and he was 100% sure that he was struggling, living the hard life, in debt, and jsut like the woman and I.

When the woman told him that he had no idea what struggle ways, he told us that waiting for his parents to pay of his credit cards was a horrible experience – while the woman and I had no backing from our parents, no extra income, and we missed meals while he didn’t.
The point is, that from his point of view having the tag of being on Welfare with children he was, genuinely in his mind, living on the poverty line, something of which in reality he had absolutely no idea what struggle was like.

The point is, that people can be in a position in life and be so used to it, or it is all that that person has ever known, that this person cannot comprehend other people’s suffering and struggles.
