Today we have a new modern religious attitude that “all was done by Jesus” and all we have to do is be saved, and pray and everything will be alright.
All around the world the religious hide in churches being very ineffective. Why is evil winning? Because God’s people are foolishly divided, and foolishly proud about it too.
Many are proud of their religious beliefs and status, they learn their verses, sing the hymns, tithe, and turn up for church every service, but all these acts are purely selfish, because they are doing it all for their own salvation and not for others. Love is about doing something for those you care about.
The Good Samaritan didn’t even know the man that he helped. But he was active while the religious made excuses and walked on by.
Remember what Jesus said about the goats and the sheep? We have to actively help people, every day, and every chance we get. We must be doers of the word, not just preachers and listeners. The service must be active in the community.
What does the Bible say about only giving to your own? Even the unjust give to their own. God requires of you to give to everyone, even your enemies.
When people understand that they have been mislead to thinking that the lifestyle they are living is wrong then they want to change. But they must be shown.
Can you imagine God’s immense frustration at people praying for Him to do something, and God is crying, “Don’t ask me to feed him, go to his house and feed him yourself, please do something. Show your love and concern.”
A huge amount of people, religious or not, don’t know what love is. How can they change of they don’t realize that they are suffering because of their current lifestyle.
When people learn more about the advantages of changing their lifestyle, as we have done, then they will want to change. But they are never going to change until they know what the advantages are, for now and for eternity.
Remember that all the non-religious already have a bad view about the religious because many religious are still babes and never mature and have given us all a terrible reputation.
Praying for them is nice, worthy and good. But the more effective thing to do, that Christ requires of you is for you to “do something”, to show that you are a wonderful and fair example of Christ and the Bible.
If we are to be little Christs, then we must ask ourselves what did Christ do? He was very active in the community, and was an example of humbleness, meekness, love, charity, concern.
Did Jesus pray for everyone that needed help? No, Jesus did something about it.
The 1800’s was the great growth of Christianity across the world as brave missionaries spread the word, mended the sick, taught the natives how to read, write, play music, do sums, arts, crafts, and skills as well as trades, etc.
Compare that to the “hide in church Christians” of today. They pray and ask God to change the world. They have national and international prayer days, but what do they do?
All the best from James Martin Sandbrook.
