I watched a movie about Bible prophecy. Irwin Moon, the very entertaining scientist mentioned some Bible predictions that have come true and then a mathematical professor, the head of mathematics and astrology at Pasadena City College made an appearance.
They spoke of the branch of mathematics called the Theory of Probability.
The movie is called The Professor and the Prophets another good movie from the Moody Institute.
What are “the odds” on God doing what He does. What were the chances that the predictions mentioned in the Bible coming true?
The predictions were mentioned in the Bible and in time they became a reality. One was about the fall of Tyre, another of the Golden Gate of Jerusalem being shut up, the once powerful Petra being bypassed and the people leaving and only ruins remain, the fall of the Babylonian Empire etc.
They worked out that the chances were 1 in 2 quintillion of these events being predicted and then really happening. And even at those amazing odds they still happened.
The professor said that if we have 2 quintillion silver dollars, and we marked a cross on one of those coins and then we threw it into the pile of coins and spread them across the state of Texas. Texas has an area of a little more than a quarter of a million square miles.
We will spread the silver dollars across the state of Texas to a depth of 35 feet. And now we will blindfold a man to go get that silver dollar that was marked. He could walk as far as he wanted to and dig deep but he must find that one marked coin.
And that is the chance of those Bible prophecies coming true, 1 chance in 2 quintillion, but still they did come true. And that is because we have an amazing God. God makes things happen that confuse and startle the “experts”.
Those amazing coincidences and chance happenings, are from a God that loves you very much.
Scientists may claim this and that and lay out great odds on the events not happening, but they happen anyway. I guess God doesn’t subscribe to the same science magazines.
We have an amazing Living God who makes things happen as He sees fit. Don’t deny yourself happiness and Salvation by denying that God exists – “Believe in God with all your heart and soul and stay faithful to Him, He will always stay faithful to you.
All the best from
James M Sandbrook.
