Numbers Chapter 21, verse 4:
And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way that we have to go.
Discouraged because of the way that we have to go. God would prefer is to be encouraged.
The devil’s greatest tool is discouragement.
When we are in the wilderness it can easily be discouraged.
The people were complaining.
So discouraged he wanted to die:
Numbers Chapter 11, verse 15: And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.
God can’t teach a discouraged person.
Elijah ran because he was discouraged.
The greatest people who God has the most faith in are tested greatly, and they suffer longsuffering. God tests them the most. They are on the way to great things due to them passing the tests and gaining wisdom.
In times of discouragement we can’t think the wrong things.
John first believed in Jesus, and then in prison, discouraged he started to doubt Jesus.
In times of discouragement we may say the wrong things.
The 10 spies brought back the wrong report. They saw the wrong things. Am evil report.
Joshua and Caleb saw the positive side and they were not afraid because they had total faith in God too.
Moses was discouraged and because of his frustration and anger he lost everything. He lost faith in God and the people.
We must raise God up by following God and doing the right thing.
You will end up the wrong place when discouraged. Discouragement puts people off doing the right thing.
People who are discouraged develop the wrong spirit. A spirit of defeat.
It is an act of our will to want to encourage ourselves. We are equipped to break free from discouragement, sometimes we just don’t know it.
Maintain a right spirit regardless of the circumstances.
Joseph stayed faithful and was heavily blessed by God.
Daniel stayed right.
1 Corinthians Chapter 15, verse 58:
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
We could do and say something that may ruin our testimony when we are feeling discouraged.
You have every reason to be encouraged. Keep faith in yourself and in God.
