Becoming a student of God can be a simple thing to do or hard for some people.

There are some rules and techniques that need to be learnt to help you grow in Gods ways. Many things are taught to Gods students. Some people need to be taught to pray, some don’t. Some people need a long time to gather enough faith to believe that God is really there and will actually help that person. And some people have that deep faith nearly immediately.

Many Christians state that we ‘need to grow with God’ and this can take some time. Humans in this modern world want results immediately and many will expect God to be privileged to have these people as His children. This is not how Gods system works.

One thing you can be absolutely sure of and that is that God has given you all the choices to make. God has given us the best system that we could possibly use. Freedom is a word that applies here. God has given you total freedom, the freedom to choose to be with God or without God. There is no force applied on you to turn to Gods ways. You will not be punished by God for going against God, at least in the present. If you are punished at all it is simply because of the choices that you have made. Remember that God is good, therefore God has given you the choices as a good leader (or Father, God) would (and should) do.

The start of your course in Belief in God is when you first choose to call to God for help. To do this you must recognise the works of Jesus Christ and fully believe that Jesus came to us to warn us of the false beliefs and false teachings that were going on at the time of Jesus’s life and for the future.

The second thing for you to do is to pray often.

The third thing to do is read the Bible. Daily if possible. Try to read complete chapters (many are short) instead of concentrating on verses. Christians seem to be fascinated by verses these days. Most or many sermons are based on simple verses, many Bible classes and teachings are based on simple verses in the Bible. When reading verses always try to read before the verse and after the verse to get some idea about what the verse is all about. Many preachers choose to use verses in ways that they were not meant to be used and sometimes the verses chosen have absolutely no bearing on the subject whatsoever.

The third thing to do and probably for most people the hardest thing to do is for you to follow the rules set aside in the Bible.

Joining a church is an option, but not a requirement if you want to be a Christian. God comes to us these days through the Holy Spirit so a church will not make any difference in that area. But a good unbiased church is a wonderful source of friendship and caring people who will love you and help you in your hour of need.
