Have you seen the person with the car full of speakers and a sound system that has enough power to cause mega-noise? We have all hear the thump, thump, thump of the heavy bass of these vehicles as they zoom by with a drive oblivious to all around themself other than where they are going and the music.
Psalm 46, verse 10: Be still, and know that I am God. In the quiet of life we will know God. In the roaring noise of the cities, parties and such we do not know God because we are lost in the din around us which throws off our attention. The quiet voice within doesn’t get a word in because of the racket outside of the mind that is pounding in through the ears. Music is fine, but very loud bass pounding music keeps God out.
At parties people find ways to “lighten” the load of the day and also make their minds go into a dreamy non-thinking state. Drugs and alcohol cause this kind of state. Add some loud noise, people, dancing, dim lights, flashing clothes, glimpses of the pleasures of the flesh and you have the Devil’s Playground. This is a place of confusion masked in a atmosphere carefully designed to get people into believing that this is “where its at!” We do not make decent loving decisions when we are “wasted” or even just sitting sipping cokes at a party because of the distractions which are heavily designed to be attractive. How many times have we woken up the next day and said, “Why did I do that?” and how many times do we not even remember what we did the night before and who with?
Many bad things happen when we are not “of our own minds”, when we are surrounded by groovy noise, when we are surrounded by peers, when we are often too young to make the right decisions when we are not drinking or drugged, and in this environment we are truly lost. The writhing flesh of human bodies dancing to load music under dim seedy flashing lights just adds to the “promise” of a good night. Friends will laugh if we leave, so we stay afraid to be laughed at the next day by our friends.
The noise of life can block out the love of God. Any form of mind confusion will block out warning messages from God. It is our willing weaknesses that evil uses to destroy our lives and pull us away from God’s help and warnings and good guidance. An example of the guy hooning around in his bass-booming car from church and he hoons (speeds) around a corner and plows into a bunch of children crossing the road. He couldn’t hear God’s warnings. If he read a verse that morning warning him of something going wrong or such he wouldn’t remember it while hooning along and his ears being pounded by a whole spectrum of vibrations of highs and lows.
We need to be aware that the work of evil has come into society and we have accepted into our modern culture the very tools that are used to bring us down with a crash of severe pain, shame and hurt. We blame God when our son plows into a bunch of children. We say we go to church, why did God allow this? The adults of the world of yesterday gave society over to evil when they succumbed to the pleasures of sin and the weakness of the call of money and fame. The young of today have grown up in this and believe this sinful non-Godly lifestyle, and they believe it to be real life – how could we expect otherwise, after all its all they see, live and love.
Let us do our best to re-evaluate our own lives and the effect we are having on our own children. Let us keep our mind living in the quiet as God designed it to.
Be still and know your God. Its the quiet of life that will keep you with God, hearing God, and knowing God. Keep a good loving, sharing, tender heart for the sake of your own home, your own life, and for the sake of love and God. Please reconsider your life, the things that you love, and keep a loving peaceful life and you will understand God and life so much better.
And now it is the weekend. Will you be going out tonight? Try to make the right decisions for your sake and for the sake of others and those that love you dearly.
