I have been reading the Bible for a while now. And have read or downloaded many sermons off the internet. I wanted to learn what the Bible, God and the walk of Jesus Christ is all about.
Matthew 5:3
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Jesus states here who are blessed. These verses give us a good idea about how we are to be as children of God. If Jesus stated back in those times that we are blessed if we are any of those previously mentioned statements then this is surely what Jesus asks of us as Christians today. He did not speak those words for the pure fun of hearing His own voice or try to deceive those that He was teaching. Clearly those words are for you today as they were for those of the past.
Matthew 5:3
Read the entire chapter.
Note here that Jesus is teaching. He is guiding those with Him and us who will read these words in the future, showing us what He expects of us if we are to be Christians. Once again it is clear that Jesus is not asking us to be this way simply because He wants to hear His own voice. Clearly we should follow the advice of Jesus Christ everyday of our lives.
Have you noticed the way Jesus reacts to those He regards as hypocrites? Jesus Christ is not very pleased with them. What impression do you get when you read what Jesus thinks of those who don’t follow His suggestions. Have you noticed who will get the rewards? Is it those who will follow His suggestions or those who do not follow His suggestions? Clearly it is those who do follow His suggestions who are seen in great light to Jesus.
To many Christians today it seems impossible to follow the rules set by Jesus Christ. So we seem to think it wise to call ourselves constant sinners and then we have the right to be constant sinners and then we figure that Jesus will not mind because He knows that we are simple human beings. And that we are weak by nature so its alright – but hold it, we were created by God and not nature. God is not weak and we were made in His Holy image. Therefore we cannot be simply weak. But Jesus in His human physical body and other people since Jesus have clearly shown that we can live good Holy lives.
Jesus Christ constantly tells us to behave and follow the rules that He has set before us. These rules would never have been put before us unless Jesus actually believed that we could follow them. For us to say that we are everyday sinners is a direct attack on the suggestions that Jesus Christ set before us.
When we make that first precious step towards becoming a Christian and we pray to Jesus for the first time. We are making our first step towards becoming a Christian. But this is only the start of the long walk at Jesus’s side. Next Jesus expects us to follow the rules that He suggested. While we struggle with the new changes that we have to make with our lives Jesus Christ will be at our side guiding us as we go through trial and error trying to reach that point that Jesus wants us to be at.
That point is to be a good person who is dedicated to the Father – God. And what God has to offer us.
All the best from
