I was watching a rugby game (I barely watch sports or TV, but there was a lesson here for me).
The game was the All Blacks against Australia. During the game someone kicks a “drop-kick” to try to gain 3 points if it goes between the goal posts and over the crossbar.
In the past when I used to watch a lot of rugby I thought that all the random kicks were foolish because many didn’t go over the posts.
But I noticed today that even though the kick “may not go over” it “was still worth the risk of having a go”.
If someone is running with the ball and all of a sudden sees a clear path to have a drop-kick then that opportunity should be taken. It is a risk that the kick of the ball may miss, may end up in the oppositions possession etc, but the risk of failing is nothing compared with gaining those precious points.
As many rugby enthusiasts will tell you, many a game was won by a random drop-kick.

Life for you and I is full of risks, and the possibility of failure. But there is also the wonderful chance of success, and just like the sports person we should take the risks for the things that we want, because taking the risk is worth it.
So if an opportunity to try something or do something comes up then please realize that you may have to take the risk of failure, possibly embarrassment or shame, it is still worth the risk because if you succeed, “you get what it is that you wanted” and that makes all the efforts and risks worth it.
Have faith in yourself, have a good heart, audio have a go. It could be the greatest day of your life, an event that changes for life forever. Who knows? When you try, you will know.
