Many people have confused ideas about what an emotion is and how to deal with it.
For instance when a person becomes very frustrated that person can become angry and violent.
But if the person understands that he or she was not angry in the first place and just frustrated, then that person can change how he or she reacts when frustrated.
We need to listen to our own mind. Listen to what we think. And deny the thoughts that are not suited to our character and personal beliefs.

If a person listens to what he or she thinks they can become very surprised at how harshly and negatively they think about themselves.
