A man went to a church, he talked about how the congregation had issues, planks in their eye, looked proudly down on others, were not that kind and so forth.
The congregation were upset, how dare he talk of them that way.
But he reminded them, that in Jesus’ time the people were greedy, lustful, selfish, unkind, and the way to make people realise that they have lost contact with empathy is to make them feel guilty.
To make selfish people feel guilty, is to open their minds to who they think they are and who they really are. People love to see themselves in a better light,. And see themselves as worthy, deserving, with vain thoughts, people loved to be honoured, spoiled, treated good.
Feeling guilty is a good thing, as it shows us where we have gone wrong or lost track, and what we feel guilty about shows us how to get back on track.
Jesus wanted the people to feel guilty, so that they would help others, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, help the poor, visit the widows and so on.
The goal is to help make life more honest, truthful, kind, generous, and to feel others suffering with understanding and empathy.
If you read something that makes you feel guilty, feel guilt about something that you have done or not done, deal with it. People want others to make the world a better place, Jesus was teaching us to be the ones to make the world a better place, such as the Good Samaritan teaching.
If people didn’t hear Jesus’ examples and feel guilt then they would not know what to feel guilty about because they were brought up in Material Living, thus they put “things” ahead of people, and they had been taught to put themselves above others, and to blame other people’s misfortune on them and use that as an excuse not to help them.
