Some people have a strong belief in their own righteousness so much so that they can commit harmful acts and see no wrong in what they do.

Some people who see themselves as morally pure or “innocent” may feel justified in doing things others would consider “evil” because they believe that their ends (they believe is a “greater good”) validate any means necessary to achieve these goals.

Hitler convinced the German people, in mass, to take up arms against countries that had no chance of fighting the German superior war machine. Thus, the bombers went in to places like Poland, bombed people in their homes with senseless slaughter, and the pilots went home to Germany as heroes, and they were rewarded with fame, high ranking and medals.

While the pilots were slapping themselves on each others backs with congratulations and celebrating with alcohol and laughter, back in the country where they just bombed people were were devastated as they mourned the deaths of young ones, children, the elderly, wives, sons and daughters. Panic, fear, horror had come to these people who were living normal lives.

When people are convinced that doing evil acts is for a good worthy cause they will do these deeds without guilt, and they will do them enthusiastically, desiring to achieve their goals, and do well for themselves along the way.

Character Assassination is so successful because the general public can become frustrated with life, the laws, politics, and feeling like victims they are all too happy to take up task against an innocent person because it makes the Flying Monkeys feel important, powerful, and that they are doing what the laws won’t do.

These Flying Monkeys cannot see that they were fooled, seduced, used and abused to do evil against the innocent. They feel no guilt, just a desire to see their version of justice done. With Character Assassination the Flying Monkeys don’t need proof, or facts, they just need their pride, ego’s, angers and self-justification to ignore the faults of their own lives and just see the imagined faults in others. When people are like this, they feel that their cruel attacks on the innocent are worthy, justified, honourable and needed.
