We used to say, “What it is man!” and thats a statement of what it is 🙂 or, it is what it is.
Just thinking about something I don’t want to do, but I do want it sorted, finished and I want to move on.
But, the famous thought popped into my head, “It is what it is.”
I have to do what I don’t want to do, but in doing it the whole thing goes by, is finished and new beginnings started.
I realized that the situation is what it is and there is really nothing but for me to do what i need to do.
I can’t help the situation being what it is, but that is life, the situation is what it is, and the only way to get real and deal with the situation is to face the truth and do what needs doing.
Facing things for what they are and not what I prefer them to be is growing up, being responsible for any part I had in it, and seeing the truth for what it is and accepting that I have a responsible part to play in it and that is what I must do.
If I don’t do what I must do then it does not pass, it not dealt with, and things like that tend to stay with us, bothering our days, making us worry, regret, and wish the situation was different.
But all that wishing that things were different changes nothing, does nothing, and makes us feel cowardly because we are avoiding what we must do.
I must see the truth, face the truth, understand the truth for what it is, and deal with it as I should do.
What is, is what it is, and what it is must be dealt with – it is what it is.
Have you noticed that sometimes we avoid a situation, and the whole situation moves away from us and is not there visually or in any other way, but in our own mind it won’t go away, and it stays with us, haunts us, and that being the case we will always be miserable until we do something about it. You see, in these cases, it was not other people or even the situation that was the real problem, because if its all gone except for in our own mind then it was in us all the time to do what we needed to do, but we used other people, and other situations to try to avoid what must be done and to escape responsibility for our own past actions.
And realizing that the situation and my part in the situation, is what it is, and wanting it over, has me feeling less cowardly and the more I face the truth and understand the situation the more courage and desire I have to get it over with and finished.
Procrastination just keeps the issue alive in my mind and causes me to stress because my mind won’t allow it to go away, and too many things remind me that I have something to do that I have been avoiding.
Facing the truth for what it is, and desiring to finish it, I have less stress and then contemplate how I am going to deal with it. This is the start of change, of dealing with what needs dealing with, and making things turn out right, even if it will be uncomfortable for a while.
