The Weenie Beenie was shaking and then I heard a noise, it was a high pitched whining and it was coming from the jar.
The Weenie Beenie had changed colour to green and then vibrated even faster, it pulled in it's arms and then started to spin and as it spun it changed into all the colours of the colour spectrum.
First slowly it spun and then faster, and faster and faster. I had a feeling that I should stop it from doing this, yet I did not know why and I found that I was very curious and wanted to see what it was up to and what would happen next.
Finally it was spinning in the jar at a magnificent speed and the whining noise had gotten greater and it started to hurt my ears. Just as I thought that the sound was becoming unbearable and I was about to put down the jar and cover my ears the sound stopped and the Weenie Beanie's spinning slowed down, and finally it stopped spinning altogether.
The Weenie Beenie stood up and rubbed its little hands together with glee, "I shall be pleased to be free again and in more intelligent company, it was a small pleasure meeting you human." It smiled at me and then pulled its head into its body along with its arms and legs.
I stared at the bean shaped body shell and wondered just what it was that I had just witnessed. I waited for a few minutes and then said, "You can come out now, I want to talk to you."
Nothing happened. I shook the jar gently, I didn't want to hurt the Weenie Beenie. A dead Weenie Beenie was not going to make me any money. Still nothing happened.
After a while I put the jar lid back on and put the jar back on the coffee table. Then I went back to bed. I lay in bed for an hour because I couldn't sleep. I was thinking of all the money that I could make with this little Weenie Beenie but I also felt that something was wrong, what I just couldn't figure out. I didn't feel comfortable and I didn't like the Weenie Beenies attitude, it seemed so confident. I finally figured that I was being silly, it couldn't get out of that jar.
I finally fell into a deep sleep.
I awoke with a start.
Something was wrong.
Then I noticed a feeling on my nose like a bug was on it.
I opened my eyes and was astonished to see a Weenie Beenie on my nose.
It was obviously a male because of the clothes it wore, and it was waving its arms around and making a strange whining noise.
I then tried to lift my arms to grab the little chap and I couldn't move them.
Something was dreadfully wrong, I tried to move my feet and they were stuck in place.
Then I noticed little whining noises were coming from all around me, I looked at the Weenie Beenie on my nose and he smiled at me and then jumped down onto my cheek and slid down the side of my face.
I then turned my head to follow where he had gone and saw that he was standing on my pillow with the Weenie Beenie that was supposed to be in the jar, both of them were smiling at me. The one from the jar was rubbing his little hands together with glee.
"What the heck is going on!" I shouted. The two Weenie Beenies frowned at me.
"There is no need to raise your voice human. My people have come to save me," said the Weenie Beenie from the jar with a big smile on his face, "I did try to warn you, but like the rest of your race you don't listen to reason."
"Why can't I move?" I said feeling a bit panicky.
"We have covered you with a special plant mixture, its a form of glue and it should hold you for a few hours and then it will start to dissolve. You will then be free again. You should be grateful that we are a peaceful race. But don't push us because we will fight and fight bravely if we have to" he warned me.
I tilted my head forward and looked down at my body and saw hundreds of Weenie Beenies walking over my body. They were holding seed pods of all kinds and pouring some thick gluey mixture on my body. I stared shocked and confused.
"Ah, I see that you are impressed" said the Weenie Beenie from the jar, "Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Enie Bean, what's your name human?".
"John Moore", I said in a bewildered voice.
"Glad to meet you in these pleasant circumstances Mr John Moore", he smiled and waved a hand at me. His friend said, "My name is Arnie Bean, I am Enie's brother."
I stared at them and said in a resigned and captured voice, "Glad to meet you Enie and Arnie."
"I suggest that you go back to sleep to while away the time John", said Enie Bean.
"Somehow I don't think I will get back to sleep", I said and after I said that I heard Arnie yell to all the Weenie Beenies that it was time to go and they all walked around picking up their pods and walking to my right side and then sliding off my body onto the bed and down what looked like vine ladders to the bedroom floor.
Enie Bean then walked over to my face and reached into his pocket and pulled out a package of some sort. He smiled at me and ripped the top off the package which I could see was actually a bag made out of a leaf. Enie then held the bag up to my face.
"What is that and what are you doing", I said in dismay, this was not my day.
"Its a sleeping potion my friend, once the aroma drifts up to your nose you will breathe it in and after a few minutes drift into a deep sleep that will last at least three hours and by that time the mixture holding you to the bed will have dissolved and you will be free."
I thought of turning my head away but I found that I was already drifting away into a blissful sleep. The next thing I remember I was awake and I immediately tried to lift my arms, I was amazed I was free. I jumped off the bed and saw my blankets on the floor. The room smelled foul but the gluey stuff that had stuck me to the bed was all gone. Just as Enie Bean had said the gunk had dissolved completely away and all that was left was that smell.
I screwed my nose up and looked around the room to try and figure out where they went. There were no clues that they had ever been there and I wondered if it had all been a bad dream.
I ran into the lounge to see if the jar was there but it wasn't. I checked the cupboard and the jar was in there, looking normal. I made a cup of coffee and sat down in a chair in the kitchen and tried to sort it all out. Had I dreamed it all? I must have, there was no other logical explanation.
If I didn't dream it all then these Weenie Beenies were very clever indeed and it was obvious why they had never been caught and kept. Nobody would ever believe my story if I told them. A few days went by and I tried to stop thinking about the Weenie Beenies but I just couldn't get them out of my head. I just had to know more about them and to prove to myself that I wasn't going crazy.
I got into my old Ford and drove out to the place in the bush that I had found Enie Bean. I parked the ute and walked over to the spot where I had seen Enie, but all there was were lots of stones, bits of tree bark and some sticks.
I sat on an old tree stump and took a deep breath and looked around at the trees and foliage that surrounded me. The sun was shining brightly and I just sat and wondered at the beauty of the forest at this time of the day. I had been to this spot often to get wood but I never really looked at the forest until now.
I felt a bit guilty. When I was a student I did all the protesting about this and that with my friends.
We were going to "save the planet" and save the whales, stop the nuclear invasion of the world.
And somehow I had forgotten it all and got myself a low paying job and just loused about most of the time.
I suppose you could say that I was a bit arrogant, I figured that I was a smart guy and that lady luck would smile on me one day and all would be well.
I stood up and walked over to a large puddle on the ground and looked at the image that was staring back at me. I was 5 foot 6 inches tall with a tan that the chicks loved. My dark long hair which came down to my shoulders was messy. I still had a the muscle of my teen years but it was obvious that I was starting pack on a bit of weight around the middle from lack of exercise and lots of eating. I started to wonder what happened to the dreams that I had as a teenager?
"Life can be a bit of a let down at your age", said a voice that I recognized. I spun around and saw Enie Bean looking at my mirror image in the water.
"When I was twenty five I had the same feeling, I realized that it was time for me to do something, become something. I have heard that its not much different for you humans", said Enie Bean.
"Hello Enie, I was wondering the last few days whether I had imagined it all and that I had never seen you. I thought I must be going crazy." I said looking at him and feeling relieved that he did exist and that I wasn't crazy after all.
"I know, I could see it in your face, the worry that you came here with today. I could also feel your sorrow. I am afraid that we have that affect on human people when they come across us. We are very careful and we don't leave any tracks so humans get very confused and wonder about what they saw", explained Enie.
"Yes, that's how I feel Enie. But why have you shown yourself?, "Wouldn't it have been better if you had stayed away?"
"I saw you and I felt sorry for you. You don't understand what life is all about. The material world that humans have created for themselves has taken them away from the reality of earth. They lose sight of why they are here and why they were born, I wanted to explain it to you. I wanted to help you".
"It is confusing and I was looking at myself and wondering what had happened to all the dreams I had years ago, they seemed so important back then. But look at me now, I am nothing like what I wanted to be." I said.
"I have talked to the Weenie Beenies great council about you, and I even asked them if you come and visit us, see our homes and families and see what your life could be like if you are interested?" said Enie, "But they don't like the idea. They know how greedy humans are and they know what bad thoughts you had about making money from trapping me." said Enie.
"You have families, you mean you have a wife and children?" I asked.
"Oh yes, we have all that and lots more" said a smiling Enie, "I have a wife and children but they are much too scared of meeting you, in fact we were looking for fallen berries when you drove up and I told my wife and children who you are and they are watching you from the bushes. My wife thinks that I am very brave talking to you out in the open. My children think I am their hero, they also think that I am very brave." said a pleased Enie.
"Tell me more about you and your people please?"
